ODDA Sex Offender Reporting Tool now Referenced by Ministry of Justice

We’re delighted that last week the Ministry of Justice published their new version of their Licence Conditions Policy Framework, including a reference to the sex offender reporting tool from the ODDA.

The updated Framework now includes a specific reference to a tool we’ve developed on our website to report convicted sex offenders. This means that prison and probation staff are actively encouraged to report sex offenders to us and we will share that information with our members to ensure the individual is blocked or removed from the dating or social discovery service. This is an addition to the measures our members already have in place.

We continue to push for anyone convicted of a violent or sexual offence to be automatically prohibited from signing up to an online dating or social discovery service rather than it being an ‘additional licence condition’ at the discretion of the Courts. However, this is a welcome step in the right direction and one that will make the internet safer for everyone.
