ODDA writes to Lord Hansen RE Shared Liability for Fraud
The ODDA has written to the Fraud Minister Lord Hanson regarding a proposed amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill that would make technology companies liable for losses from fraud suffered by customers of online platforms.
Regarding this proposal, ODDA CEO Simon Newman has said: “While tackling fraud is a top priority for our members, the ODDA expressed its concerns about the proposed amendment and its impact on smaller firms in particular. While we are pleased that the Government rejected the amendment, we felt it important to highlight the reasons why an extension to the Advanced Push Payment (APP) Fraud Reimbursement Scheme was unnecessary, and instead, encouraged the Government to continue with its approach to work collaboratively with industry to prevent fraud.”
