ODDA Writes to European Commission Urging them to Uphold the Digital Markets Act

As a member of the Coalition for App Fairness, the ODDA has co-signed a letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen expressing grave concerns over Apple’s persistent non-compliance with the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The letter argues that despite the Commission’s formal non-compliance decision against Apple in April 2025, the company’s proposed new terms continue to impose exorbitant and illegal commission fees on transactions that the DMA mandates should be free of charge. The signatories urge the Commission to take immediate, clear enforcement action to uphold the law and ensure a fair and competitive digital market for all.

The ODDAs Simon Newman said:

“The fees charged by Apple are bad for app developers and bad for consumers by stifling innovation and reducing choice. We simply want the Commission to uphold the DMA and ensure the decision reached in April is properly implemented.”
