ODDA Writes to Secretary of State for Business and Trade Regarding Lack of Detail on Proposed Subscription Contracts Regime

The ODDA has written to Rt Hon Peter Kyle MP in his capacity as the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, raising concerns about the lack of detail regarding the proposals for a new subscription contracts regime under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act (DMCCA).

In our letter, we ask the Secretary of State for an update on the Government’s response to the consultation, which is long overdue, and highlighted the concerns we raised during the consultation about the options for refunds and cooling-off periods during contract renewals. We also raised concerns about the risks in ‘kicking the can down the road’ by delaying the implementation date, adding to uncertainty in the market.
