ODDA Responds to Competition and Market Authority’s Consultation on Price Transparency
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) recently consulted on draft guidance for businesses on the price transparency provisions of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (DMCC Act). The guidance includes several new requirements for traders, including those operating in the online dating and social discovery sector.
In response to the consultation, Simon Newman, CEO of the ODDA said “While we broadly welcome this guidance, we have highlighted a number of concerns in our response about the impact of these new requirements on smaller firms in particular and the amount of information traders must provide to consumers upfront. We have urged the CMA to be cautious when it comes to the level of prescription in the guidance to avoid overwhelming consumers with excessive or overly detailed information, particularly at early stages in the customer journey.”
